Morocco has long been a go-to location for many acclaimed directors and productions.

The forefather of cinema, Louis Lumière, and auteurs Orson Welles and Alfred Hitchcock, were among the first pioneers to capture the allure of Morocco and its diverse landscape on film. Other notable foreign films produced largely or entirely in Morocco are: Lawrence of Arabia, Patton, The Mummy franchise, Blackhawk Down, Hidalgo, Babel, The Hills Have Eyes I & II, Bourne Ultimatum, Inception, Mission Impossible - Rogue Nation, American Sniper, and Spectre

Peaks & Valleys

In between the peaks and valleys of Morocco reside some of the most ancient cities and preserved wildlife in the world.  The Atlas mountains are home to Toubkal, the highest peak in North Africa and picturesque villages along the fertile ImIlil and Ourika valleys.

Morocco's natural beauty is only paralleled by its manmade marvels. Ancient fortresses, riad palaces, andalusian gardens, coastal villas, and mosques reflect Morocco's rich history and blend of African, Berber, and European influences.

Morocco can match almost any historical period and location in the world.

Some parts of the Sahara remain untouched by time, prehistoric and otherworldly, while cities like Casablanca and Tangier in the north are a modern confluence of its European, Berber, African, and Arab history.  Morocco's Mediterranean climate and coastline are similar to Southern California, it's mountains, alpine, and it's deserts, arid. With such diversity, Morocco is the perfect affordable stand-in for all kinds of locations.

WHY MOROCCO?

WITH MOROCCO’S BUDGET-FRIENDLY EXCHANGE RATE, MANY PRODUCTIONS HAVE SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCED THEIR BUDGET OR AMPLIFIED THEIR PRODUCTION VALUE.

LOCATION

With just a 2.5 hour daily flight from Paris to Rabat, Morocco is both inexpensive and easily accessible from Europe.  Bordering Spain, Algeria, and Mauritania, Morocco is a cultural and geographical gateway to the Middle East, Africa, and Europe. Daily flights from most major cities in Europe (Paris, London, Barcelona, Berlin, Rome, etc.) are available to fly direct to Casablanca, Rabat, Marrakech and Fes.

LANDSCAPES

Every 100 miles, the Moroccan terrain shifts, to the delight of location scouts and filmmakers alike. The Atlas Mountains, Mediterranean Sea, Sahara Desert and the Atlantic Ocean Coast lines are among some of the largest natural landmarks. Director Ridley Scott alone has used Moroccan locations in four of his films to portray Ancient Greece (Gladiator, 2000), Mogadishu (Black Hawk Down, 2001), France/Israel (Kingdom of Heaven, 2005), and the Middle East (Body of Lies, 2008)

CLIMATE

Much like Hollywood, California, Morocco's climate is also well known to be moderate and Mediterranean, making it a comfortable location for production all year round. There's plenty of sun throughout the year and the more inland you move, the temperatures  change dramatically to accommodate the scenic demands of a shoot. From the heart of the Sahara desert to the highest altitudes of the Atlas mountains, Morocco can double for many other countries with much less restrictions and difficulties.

BUDGET

Moroccans roll out the red carpet to international productions. For foreign production companies there is no VAT (value added tax) to pay upfront. The Moroccan government also provides a cash-back/rebate of 20% to all productions that spend over one million dollars in Morocco and meet the minimum requirement of a 18-day shoot.  In addition to this, the cost of permits, locations, background roles, set construction, props and costume rentals are substantially lower than its Western counterparts. We are confident in our ability to help maximize every budget regardless of project format.

PEOPLE

We work with the most experienced professionals in the country.  Our network of English speaking cast & crew has worked on the largest international productions such as: Game of Thrones, Spectre, Inception, Black Hawk Down, The Gladiator, The Bourne Ultimatum, Hologram for the King, Only Lovers Left Alive, The Red Tent and more.  Our hand selected crews have also helped shoot documentaries, award winning shorts, commercials and industrials for some of the best recognized networks, companies and brands such as HBO, Sony Pictures, BBC, ZDF, CBS, Samsung, Hyundai, LG, UNICEF, Coca-Cola and countless more.
